The National Center for Health Statistics is pleased
to announce a new release of data in the
Data Warehouse on Trends in Health and Aging
The new release contains Home Health Care data by
the type of the service from The National Home and Hospice Care Survey,
Emergency Room data by reason for visit (illness or injury), and updated
data from The Bureau of The Census (Living Arrangements), and data on
self-assessed health status from National Health Interview Survey and
Behavior Risk Factors Surveillance System. Data on functional limitations of
older adults from the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey are being
developed and will be released soon. Most of the new and updated tables
contain statistical confidence intervals, standard errors and relative
standard errors for the estimates.
The next presentation of the Warehouse will be at
the 2002 NCOA-ASA Joint Conference, in Denver, Colorado. If you haven't used the Warehouse before, it is a user-friendly Web-based data archive developed by the National Center for
Health Statistics (NCHS) with support from the National Institute on Aging.
The Warehouse is specifically designed to show trends in health-related
behaviors, health status, health care utilization, and health care costs of
the older population.
The warehouse contains information from a variety of
National and State level data systems, the majority maintained by NCHS. The
Warehouse is a dynamic system; series based on regular collection systems
are updated as new figures become available. Moreover, the number of topics
grows as important new data are made available.
